Fill in the Disabled Students’ Allowances application form and return it to your funding body. If you qualify for DSAs the funding body will send you a letter to let you know. You’ll then need to arrange a needs assessment.
Get in contact with us to arrange your needs assessment. You can also book your assessment online here
Provide us with the relevant documents (your DSA eligibility letter and medical evidence/diagnostic report) so that your needs assessor can prepare for the assessment.
Attend your DSA needs assessment. Although this is called an assessment, it involves a relaxed chat with an experienced assessor who will listen to your difficulties and make sure that the appropriate support is in place to support you in your studies. This will last 1.5-2 hours.
After the needs assessment you’ll receive a report outlining the recommendations that have been made. We aim to get this to you within 5 working days (the standard KPI timescale is 10 working days).
The funding body will then review the recommendations made and aim to get back to you within 10 working days.
Your funding body will send you a letter to let you know the DSA support has been agreed, but we will let you know if anything changes beforehand. The funding body will also give you instructions for how to order equipment and arrange other support.
